Jonathan Bell, paisajista que colabora en el diseño del ajardinamiento del patio, balcones y piscina del primer Hotel del Grupo Cappuccino que abrirá en marzo de 2018 me comentó la semana pasada: En mi profesión como paisajista tengo la suerte de trabajar en cualquier parte del mundo debido a que los nombres de las plantas estan en latín por lo que me comunico con el responsable de un centro de jardineria o vivero sin problema, es un lenguaje universal.

Jonathan Bell, the landscaper who is working with us to design the patio, swimming pool and façade of the Hotel from Grupo Cappuccino which opens in March 2018, said to me last week: In my job as a landscaper, I have the fortune of being able to work in any part of the world knowing that through the use of a plant’s Latin name, gardeners and designers working in any garden centre will understand me. It’s a universal language.

Ahora que mi hijo Louis ha alcanzado la mayoría de edad me ha propuesto formarse para ser barman profesional.
Me digo a mi mismo, si habla inglés y sabe hacer cocktails puede trabajar en cualquier parte del mundo. Un Whisky Sour es un Whisky Sour en Londres o en Venecia.
Y encima sabe tocar la guitarra!!

Now that my son Louis has become of age, and has finished his last year in school, he tells me that he wants to become a professional barman.
I tell myself, if you speak English and know how to make cocktails, you can work in any part of the world. After all, a Whisky Sour is a Whisky Sour in London or in Venice.
And what’s more, he can play the guitar!

Estuve cenando con un gran amigo la semana pasada. Le pregunté si le había dicho alguna vez a su madre que la quiere.

Me contestó que iba a verla cada día y esa era la forma que tenía de demostrárselo, que sólo le daba dos besos cuando se iba de viaje, que pensaba que tendría que dárselos cada día…

“Si algún día le pasara algo sabría lo mucho que siento por ella, pero no le digo nunca que la quiero porque me cuesta. Es algo en lo que pienso mucho y que llevo por dentro.”

I had dinner with a dear friend last week. I asked him if he had ever told his mother that he loves her.

He replied that he sees her every day and that this is his way of showing that he loves her, that he gives her two kisses when he goes on travels, yet knows he should give them every day.

“Sometimes I think that if one day anything were to happen to her, I would know that she knew what I felt for her. And yet I never say it because it’s so hard. It’s something that I think about, that I carry inside.”

Paseando por las estribaciones de la Sierra de Tramuntana en Mallorca, hemos encontrado una joya escondida. Al final del camino de un frondoso jardín, tamizado por los rayos del sol, aparece ante nuestro ojos la maravillosa “posesión” de Alfabia.

In the rolling foothills of Mallorca’s Tramuntana mountains, we recently found a hidden gem. At the end of a shady long garden path dappled in sparkling sunlight, the beautiful old palace of Alfàbia came into view.

Nunca antes habíamos estado en Alfabia, pero la majestuosa y secular tranquilidad que transmite continuará inspirando nuestra propia atmósfera en Cappuccino, para entrar en una era moderna.

We had never discovered the Alfàbia before, but its ancient tranquillity will continue to inspire us as we create, in Cappuccino, our own magical atmosphere for a modern age.
